The theme proposed in this session is connected to a project developed by a group of researchers of the Museu de Arqueologia e Etnologia of the University of São Paulo, Brazil, which aims to analyse the processes of inter-regional interactions in order to formulate questions on cultural and socio-political changes in the Roman provinces. The individual projects and the respective archaeological researches give emphasis to different aspects of these connections of social, political, religious, artistic and technological nature in the provinces of Gallia, Egypt, Judea/Palestine, Northern Africa and Britain. The partial and final results of the completed research indicate a clear affinity with the theme of the present Congress, even as they provide original aspects and contributions to the discussions on the relations between Rome and its provinces, especially from the point of view of Romanization, which implies assimilation, resistance and dialogue.
